Hello,
I grew up in Switzerland in a beautiful town named Biel/Bienne next to a lake and nearby lush forests.
I began my career studying graphic design and some illustration classes. After using a lot of Helvetica typeface, I moved to the US. I started working on film title design, entertainment design, motion graphics and commercial illustration.
Over the last few years, my passion has shifted to children’s books as an illustrator and author.
Fun facts about me:
-I speak 3 languages: french, english, some conversational Spanish.
-My father is from Spain and that's how I've inherited my last name, in case you were wondering if I was a luchador in a previous career.
-I love bread making, especially during the pandemic. From no-knead bread to barbari, to a rustic Swiss bread.
-I was an extra in a Hollywood blockbuster main title sequence for 2 seconds. My acting career did not go past that point.
-Every trash can in New York city has a sticker with illustrations I made. Feeling good to help NY recycling!
-I used to make short films. From writing, directing and editing, storyboarding, working with a crew. Some of them turned out terrible! But this entire process taught me so much about storytelling. Here is my favorite one.
I really don't like:
Sauerkraut. I tried, I tried and I tried to eat it, but I could never keep it down.. Sorry mom.
Some of my favorite children books include:
I wonder, words by K.A. Holt and illustrated by Kenard Pak; This Is Not My Hat Book by Jon Klassen; Danny, the Champion of the World by Roal Dahl; Insignificant Events in the Life of a Cactus by Dusti Bowling; The Enemy by Serge Bloch; The Adventures of Beekle by Dan Santat; Oh No, George! by Chris Haughton.
